Plastic fantastic lunch date.

During the “stubaier season” it is more or less the same days over & over again. First there is the early morning drive up to Hotel Happy Stubai for the most amazing breakfast buffé this planet has to offer. After leaving that place its time for…

Armin to drive up to the Gondola, often/always in Gumball 3000 mode…

Then comes the training, Armin always serves his equipment Buffé in perfect order! & I always have to take the first training run on the skis placed to the left & then work my way to the right… Don´t ask me why its always from the left to right, thats just the way it is! :)

And then the daily “enemies” shows up to try their luck…Today´s opponent.. Iver Bjerkestrand…

OOO my god was he lucky, he got a way with a 9/100 win… S##T! :)

After training its time to feast & Yes I might not be very spontaneous when it comes to selecting what place to go to…But if there is someone that comes up with 1 single reason why I should go somewhere else… Please don´t bother telling me I´m not going there anyway! :)

dating…

The Norwegian Ladies team + todays lucky man Iver & of course not to forget my TBS team mate Jeff! :)

Now its time for some plastic fantastic mania.
My raceboots are for the moment a little bit to aggressive! So Raceboot Dr Hansi decided to do a minor plastic surgery to make turn his boots from good into amazing!

I have let made a exact copy of my “normal” boots, so that I can mix with “the copy” & test some different things.
So todays misson…
Placing 1 instead of 2 silicone implants underneath the 5mm lifters ( the implant is 0.3 mm thick).

Even though it might not look or sound like a lot ( 0.3 mm ) it makes a huge difference!

And why do I do it…?? Aggressive boots are fast in turns, but they suck in gliding! So I want to find the perfect setting to make it fast in turns & in flats… Sounds simple but its a dangerous setup jungle out there & its important to not go to far away from “home” and get lost… if you understand what I mean!

What do you mean by “aggressive”? Forward lean?

With agressive boots the skies “bites” into the turn much easier. It’s like they’re rather on edge than flat. You don’t want the skies to be biting while gliding, it looses you lot’s and lot’s of precious speed. Instead you want them “swimming”. But if they swim too much it might be tough to make them turn properly. Hence the set up jungle ;)

      Simon,
You might as well be describing edge tuning here. That still does not define “aggressive” in the case of boots. Stiffness? Lean?

    Hans,
I can tell you one good reason for not going to Vapiano and its the tons of Glutamat they put into their food. I’m allergic to the stuff and felt like shit for days after a lunch there, even though they denied they put it into their meals.

Otherwise the place rocks – no doubt.

Great, wonderful way to spend your days training and the boot work is fascinating.

  4. Hi Hansi, nice view from your offic.
Talking about set up we (some of our amateur racing group) have got a question:
Couldn t you give us a basic information about ” set up”.All of you racers wotrk a lot to find the perfect set up.
What are the main things you have to take care of ,when you work on boot set up, what are the most important things in ski set up.
What is the difference between setting up a GS and na SG or DH ski(inc. their boots).
So if you would find some time to explain for us local race heroes;-) that would be nice.
And of course it s not necessary to tell us youe deepest set up secrets:-)
And: Where the hell is Hubert(immler) when you need him….hope you won t get badly hurt ,treating that head boot with your butter knife ;_0
    Kin regards
